Methuen, Massachusetts is one of the towns along the Merrimack River that offers significant appeal.  It is centrally located about a 30 minute drive from Boston and allows easy access to two major highways, route 495 that heads east and west and route 93 that runs south to Boston and north all the way to northern NH.  Want to run up to the lake on the weekends?  No problem.  It will be even better when the route 93 expansion project is completed.  Methuen is also located about 30 minutes from the North Shore beaches of Massachusetts and the NH sea coast.  Get to Portsmouth, NH and southern Maine in less than an hour.

Real estate taxes are more reasonable in Methuen, MA when compared to towns in southern NH and the cities and towns closer to the city of Boston.  Methuen Public schools have good rankings as well.  Methuen offers various opportunities for tasting local produce and restaurants, shopping, and entertainment.  Methuen has grown leaps and bounds over the past 20 years, but it still has a small town feel.

Methuen real estate offers significant values as well with the average single family home currently selling for around $263,000 and plenty of opportunities for Methuen single family homes for sale under $225k.

This question comes up from time to time on real estate forums, “How do I find the best real estate company to work for?”  The answer to this question is not easy and due to all of the choices available for real estate agents, every real estate agent is likely to come up with a slightly different opinion on the answer.

Some of the factors to consider when trying to decide on the best real estate company to work for may include broker fees, compensation structures and commission splits, agent training and education, administrative support, agent tools such as CRM packages, web site hosting and technology, the states you want to do business in, etc.

The cost of admission is $12 for adults and children under 17 are free.  The show hours are 9AM to 10 PM on Saturday and 9AM to 6PM on Sunday.

]]> http://newenglandpowersearch.com/new-england-home-show-february-24th-27th-2011-at-bostons-seaport-world-trade-center/feed/ Property Taxes in Massachusetts versus New Hampshire http://newenglandpowersearch.com/property-taxes-in-massachusetts-versus-new-hampshire/ http://newenglandpowersearch.com/property-taxes-in-massachusetts-versus-new-hampshire/#comments Tue, 08 Feb 2011 04:41:34 +0000 Chris Lefebvre http://newenglandpowersearch.com/?p=5054 I recently wrote a post about Mass property taxes and compared them to New Hampshire property taxes.  Some things to keep in mind when deciding which state to live in, Massachusetts versus New Hampshire are that in general property tax rates are higher in New Hampshire, but NH doesn’t have a sales or income tax.  However, if you live in New Hampshire and work in Massachusetts, keep in mind that you may be liable for Massachusetts income taxes.  I recommend that you contact a CPA or accountant for a better estimate of your true tax burden when comparing these two states.   You could also check out the Massachusetts department of revenue website so you can factor in potential income and sales taxes with your decision on where to live.
